Minato-ku Sakura Theater, Act Ⅳ -Three Sakura-zaka in Minato-ku-

Did you know there are three Sakura slopes in Minato-ku? Each offers a different atmosphere.

Ark Hills Sakura-zaka

On the Tameike side of Ark Hills is a Sakura slope that stretches southeastward from the Tokyo ANA Hotel. At one time, there was a splendid old cherry tree and this slope was named after it. The old tree was burned during World War II and now new trees line the road. Together with the cherry trees that line the road to the southeast from Roppongi 2chome, there is a total of 150 trees lining the 700-meter stretch.

The name Sakura-zaka comes from the old tree that once stood here

There is a famous song by Masaharu Fukuyama but the song is about a slope in Denenchofu. Sakura-zaka in Minato-ku are all so beautiful that any of them could be mentioned in a song.

Mouri Garden

Formerly the residence of Mouri Kai-no-kami, six cherry trees grew here long before Roppongi Hills was built and these trees have become a symbol of the garden. During the cherry blossom season a viewing corner is set up near the cherry trees surrounding the pond and Roppongi Hills restaurants put up stalls. The nighttime light-up is a sight to behold.
