The first stop is an art objet called the “Ball Machine” located in front of the Pegasus Building diagonally across from Sanno Byoin (hospital) Mae. The various sounds made when the rolling balls come into contact with something are a unique objet combining imagination with motion. The balls are lifted to the top, set onto one of the many rail courses and roll down, just like a roller coaster. “Distributors” placed at various points send the balls off to the right or left, backward or forward depending on their timing. The balls roll along the rails or through different devices to ring bells, hit xylophones, make loops and fly into baskets and perform other feats while they fall quickly, only to finally drop into the lift mechanism and begin their journey again. The rolling and splashing balls and the motion of the various devices create unique and interesting sounds. You will forget the time while you are enjoying this objet.
