Spain-zaka
This slope was born in 1986 as the result of Japan’s first private large-scale redevelopment project, Ark Hills, which opened that same year. It takes its name from the fact that, if you ascend the slope from Roppongi-dori, you come to the Spanish Embassy. Japanese cherry trees line both sides of the street. In spring, the trees overhang the slope creating a beautiful cherry-tree tunnel. The modern high-rise buildings surrounding the cherry trees make this a popular urban spot for cherry blossom viewing.
